“Over 23 Tons Recycled at I Recycle Phoenix Festival”

PHOENIX (January 6, 2015) Keep Phoenix Beautiful hosted the “I Recycle Phoenix” Festival on Saturday, January 3rd, at Christown Spectrum Mall and the results are in!

• 22,325lbs of documents shredded
• 17,724lbs of electronics recycled
• 5000lbs of donations to Treasures 4 Teachers, Goodwill AZ, and St. Vincent de Paul
• Over 1000lbs of Christmas Trees mulched
• Over 1000lbs of other recyclables

Total of 47,049lbs of materials diverted from the landfill and directly recycled or reused! That’s more than 23 metric tons!
The “I Recycle Phoenix” Festival urges residents to get rid of unnecessary items taking up space in their homes, closets and drawers by bringing them to the free event to be recycled.  Computers, electronics, clothes and toys are accepted, along with ink cartridges, batteries, plastic bags, golf balls, office supplies and even the kitchen sink!
Event participants included City of Phoenix, St. Vincent De Paul, Westech Recyclers, Arizona Center for the Blind Document Shredding, Batteries Plus Bulbs, Goodwill Arizona, Verizon Wireless, and Treasures for Teachers, and Stardust Building Supplies
